Terms of service
The short version: kept is a tool built in good faith for people who want to organize their home and life. Use it honestly, don't misuse it, and understand that it's an independent product built by one person. If something isn't working, reach out.
Who we are
kept is a web application available at getkeptapp.com, built and operated by an independent developer. By using kept (including the website at getkeptapp.com and the app at getkeptapp.com/kept.html) you agree to these terms.

What kept is
kept is a personal home and life inventory tool. It helps you store and retrieve information about your home, appliances, vehicles, family, contractors, and more. It is currently available as a web application, with native iOS and Android apps in development.
kept is free to use with a limit of 50 items and 5 ask kept AI questions. A paid subscription, kept+, unlocks unlimited items, AI capture, unlimited photos, maintenance history, and more.
kept+ subscription
kept+ is an optional paid subscription that unlocks the full kept experience. By subscribing, you agree to the following terms:
- Plans & pricing: kept+ is available on three billing cycles: weekly ($0.75/week), monthly ($2.99/month), and annual ($19.99/year). Prices are in USD and may be subject to applicable taxes.
- Free trial: new subscribers receive a 3-day free trial. No charge is made during the trial period. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be billed.
- Auto-renewal: after the free trial, your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period (weekly, monthly, or annually) until cancelled. You authorize us to charge your payment method on file for each renewal period.
- Cancellation: you may cancel at any time from the account screen inside kept (Account → Manage Subscription) or by contacting us at hello@getkeptapp.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access to kept+ until then.
- Refunds: subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you cancel mid-period, you will not receive a refund for the remaining time.
- Payment processing: payments are processed securely by Stripe. kept does not store your payment card details. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
- Price changes: we may change subscription pricing with reasonable notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Your account
You may create an account using Google, an email and password, or a one-time email sign-in link. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for any activity that occurs under your account. If you set a password, choose one you do not reuse elsewhere, and contact us at hello@getkeptapp.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You must provide an email address you control, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
Your data
Signed-in users have their data stored securely in our cloud database (Supabase), linked to their account and synced across devices. Guest users (not signed in) have their data stored locally in their browser only.
- Your data is yours. You can export it at any time using the CSV export feature.
- When you delete an item in kept, it is removed from your view immediately. A record may be retained in our database for a short period to support data integrity and recovery before permanent deletion.
- You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting hello@getkeptapp.com.

AI features
kept uses Google's Gemini API and Best Buy's product API to power features including barcode scanning, receipt reading, and product lookup. When you use these features:
- Product descriptions, images, and queries you submit may be sent to these third-party APIs to generate results.
- We do not store or log these queries on our servers.
- Results generated by AI are provided for informational purposes. kept does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated product information, specs, or suggestions. Always verify important details independently.
Acceptable use
kept is a personal tool. You agree not to use kept to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the app or its APIs
- Interfere with or disrupt the app or its underlying services
- Submit false, misleading, or harmful content through any feedback or contact form
Amazon affiliate links
kept participates in the Amazon Associates affiliate program. Some product links in kept, including the "you might also need" suggestions and the "find a safe replacement" links shown on recalled items, are Amazon affiliate links. When you click one and make a qualifying purchase, kept may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support the development of kept and never changes what we suggest. A summary of this disclosure is also shown in the app's account settings.
Disclaimer of warranties
kept is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees that the app will be available at all times, error-free, or that any information returned by the app (including product specs, AI suggestions, or API data) is accurate or complete.
kept is an independent product built by a solo developer. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of the brands, retailers, or products that may appear in search results or product lookups.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, kept and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to data loss, incorrect product information, or decisions made based on app content.
Third-party services
kept integrates with third-party services including Google (Gemini AI, Analytics, Fonts), Best Buy, UPCitemdb, Amazon, Formspree, Stripe, and Resend. Your use of these services through kept is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. kept is not responsible for the practices of these third parties.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as kept evolves. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of kept after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, without regard to conflict of law principles.
